Painter, composer, dancer, and poet, Lalan (Xie Jinglan, 1921–1995) was a rare and powerful voice in 20th-century creation. Born in China and trained in France, she developed a singular artistic language blending abstraction, electroacoustic music, and movement. Her work, deeply free-spirited, explores the connections between disciplines and cultures.
This talk will revisit her extraordinary career on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of her passing. Through her archives, visual works, and sound universe, the event offers an immersion into a practice that is as poetic as it is radical.
It will be led by Raphaël Dupouy, photographer, author, and director of the film Le Souffle de Lalan. Director of the Villa Théo art center, he has devoted much of his career to sharing the legacy of this artist he first met in 1994.
The talk will be followed by a convivial drink and discussion.
Talk in French.
