Giosetta Fioroni, born into an artistic family in Rome, distinguished herself early on during her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti. She blossomed in the art world while living in Paris before returning to Rome, where she joined the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo and met artist Toti Scialoja, who profoundly influenced her practice. One of her most innovative series, ‘Argenti’, consists of portraits of mannequins painted with industrial paint, exploring the advertising imaginary with a cinematic touch.

Participating in the Venice Biennale in 1964, Fioroni stood out by refusing to align herself with the pop art movement, emphasizing an independent approach centered on more European influences. Her work evolved towards representations of great artistic heroines and expanded to performance and literary collaborations.

During the 1970s, Fioroni settled in Salgareda and drew inspiration from Russian folklore to create Le Teche, a series of boxes containing collections of rural objects. She also explored darker themes with an atlas of forensic medicine based on a German manual. Her landscapes painted with aluminum paint marked another phase of her work.

In subsequent years, she turned to pastel and ceramics and received notable commissions, including a multi-ethnic Madonna in Rome. Her artistic contributions continued to receive international recognition, culminating in the exhibition of ‘La Spia Ottica’ in New York in 2017, confirming her status as a major artist in the history of European contemporary art.
