Jacqueline Lamba

Géraldine Bousquet

Centre d'Art de Mougins

Mother of the artist Aube Elléouët, and a close friend of Frida Kahlo and Dora Maar, Jacqueline Lamba was a luminous figure in 20th-century artistic creation. Rebellious in the face of conservative constraints, she moved through her era at the forefront of the avant-garde, never compromising her own artistic vision.

After breaking with Surrealism in 1948, she destroyed some of her paintings in order to start afresh. Her art then turned towards a profound and masterful exploration: capturing the invisible, transparency and the transformations of light within a geometricised cosmos, inspired by the vast landscapes of North America.

On Wednesday 9 September, L’Heure FAMM welcomes Géraldine Bousquet, who will introduce us to the journey of a visionary artist who fought throughout her life for the autonomy of her painting.
