At just twenty-four years old, when she joined Le Corbusier’s studio, Charlotte Perriand did more than simply collaborate in the modernist adventure: she reshaped its direction. In a field dominated by male figures, she gradually established an intellectual and aesthetic authority that went beyond the question of individual recognition.
This lecture proposes to revisit her career through a dual perspective: that of a woman asserting her legitimacy in the fields of architecture and design in the twentieth century, and that of a creator deeply committed to a social vision of modernity. For Perriand, the goal was not merely to design new forms, but to transform the ways of living, working, and being together.
