Nan Goldin, a prominent figure in American photography, has built her work on the intimate documentation of her own life and that of her circle since the 1980s. Capturing laughter, drama, and everyday moments, her work serves as a living journal, resistant to time and oblivion. She stands out for an unprecedented closeness with her subjects, rejecting any glorification to reveal a raw truth.

Coming from a privileged background, Goldin's sister's suicide directed her towards a life of freedom and a quest for truth through photography. After leaving her family as a teenager, she studied at the Boston College of Fine Arts, immersing herself in an underground world. Her major work, ‘The Ballad of Sexual Dependency,’ is a groundbreaking slideshow combining her images with an eclectic soundtrack, exhibited worldwide. Goldin has continuously explored new horizons, as evidenced by her poignant multimedia installations and photographic series during international travels. Her artistic approach, both personal and universal, offers a powerful testimony to the human condition.
