Amaranth-Roslyn Ehrenhalt, born in 1928 in Newark, rose to prominence as a leading figure in American abstract expressionism. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1951, she launched her career in New York during the vibrant era of abstract expressionism in the 1950s. Later, she made the move to Paris, where she encountered influential artists such as Sonia Delaunay, Yves Klein, and Alberto Giacometti. Her art reflects a fusion of European and American influences, expressed through abstraction, lyrical qualities, and a rich use of color.

Her vibrant paintings, often featuring motifs reminiscent of celestial bodies such as planets and stars, are the result of extensive research into color and form. Throughout her career, she showcased her work in numerous exhibitions worldwide, including a solo exhibition at the Anita Shapolsky Gallery in New York in 2012, as well as prominent group exhibitions like 'Elles font l’abstraction' at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2021 and at the Whitechapel Gallery in London in 2023.
